The Alliance brings together a staff with decades of experience in health care and data analytics to provide its members and the community with the most comprehensive reports and impactful convenings to catalyze change in the health care system for the benefit of all Washingtonians.
Dr. Drew Oliveira joined the Alliance in August 2022 as its fourth executive director since it was founded in 2004. Oliveira, who started his career as a family medicine physician at Sea Mar Community Health Center in Seattle, has nearly four decades of experience in medicine and health plan leadership.
Before joining the Alliance, Dew served as Regence BlueShield of Washington’s Senior Executive Medical Director and Population Health. He previously held senior roles with Aetna Inc. Prior to joining Aetna, Oliveira practiced medicine for more than 17 years at UW Medicine Valley Medical Center in Renton.
Drew’s connection to the Alliance dates back to its founding. He is a former member of the Alliance’s board of directors and has been involved in various committees, most recently serving as a member of the Quality Improvement Committee.
Drew earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He holds a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Washington. Oliveira completed his family medicine residency at Swedish Hospital Medical Center.

Sharon Eloranta is the Washington Health Alliance’s Medical Director for Performance Measurement and Practice Transformation. Prior to joining the Alliance in 2021, Sharon spent the majority of her career in the development and implementation of healthcare quality improvement initiatives.
Sharon started her career as a primary care provider in pediatrics but found her true passion in healthcare quality improvement, working for more than 20 years at (then) Qualis Health, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for the states of Washington, Idaho and Alaska.
She has put her provider background to use in utilization management, contract management, and NCQA HEDIS Auditing®. On the Commonwealth Fund’s Safety Net Medical Home Initiative, Sharon supported the implementation of person-centered medical homes. She also served as the Division Director for Quality at CHI Franciscan (now Virginia Mason Franciscan Health), working to help the system achieve improvements in quality and safety metrics. She then worked to create and support standards for operational excellence and was a champion for health equity at Vera Whole Health.
Sharon believes strongly in the power of collaborations, such as the Alliance, to be the driving force that can transform our healthcare system. Her motto is “no quality improvement initiative without an equity lens!” She is a believer in the IHI’s Model for Improvement and Plan, Do, Study, Act cycles as the cornerstone of effective quality improvement methodology. In her time away from work, Sharon enjoys cooking, entertaining, travel, and spending time with friends and family.
Sharon received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington, her MD from Georgetown University, and she completed a pediatrics residency at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. She also holds a certificate in Medical Management from the University of Washington and completed a Fellowship at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Denise Giambalvo is the Alliance’s Director of Member Engagement and Business Strategy. In this role she leads collaborative initiatives to reduce low-value care in Washington state, membership development and education for the purchaser members. Previously, Denise was Vice President at Midwest Business Group on Health (MBGH), where she managed the coordination and marketing of monthly educational programs, social media, newsletters, and employer benchmarking surveys. In addition, Denise led various sponsor and grant-funded projects including the National Employer Initiative on Specialty Drugs.
Prior to MBGH, Denise served as Executive Director for the Employers’ Health Coalition (EHC) in Fort Smith, AR, where she was directly involved in contract negotiations for the PBM, Employers’ Choice Rx. Committed to carrying out the Coalition’s mission to “enhance the general health of the community,” Denise oversaw EHC’s launch of the National Diabetes Prevention Program and negotiated a discounted group rate for employer-sponsored financial well-being programs.
Denise has led team collaborations with stakeholders on research and pilot programs including limited-fill, site-of-service, mental and behavioral health, and data analysis. Educational activities she has organized have focused on population health management, value-based benefit design, pain management, and analytics.

Gabriel Hanna is a Senior Health Data Analyst at the Washington Health Alliance. His experience lies in the intersection of data science, finance, actuarial science, medical economics, and mathematics. His passion is for using math to solve problems, and for aligning processes and incentives with desirable outcomes. He feels the field of health care is where he can put his skills to highest and best use.
Prior to joining the Alliance, Gabriel earned a Ph. D. in physics from Washington State University. After some years in research and teaching, he joined Molina Healthcare as a healthcare analyst, where his highest profile work was in developing value-base care arrangements along with their supporting systems for rating, reporting, forecasting, and settlement. Within six years he was leading the healthcare analytics team for Molina’s Washington, Utah, and Idaho plans. He then led the Finance Planning and Analysis team for Molina’s Washington plan. In these roles he worked closely with plan leadership and executive leadership, primarily on issues relating to Molina’s contracts with provider networks and state governments, and issues affecting the financial performance of the plans supported by his teams. He then moved to a small technology startup, where he oversaw the finance team while gaining exposure to cutting-edge machine learning and data science techniques.
Catherine Lanham is the Alliance’s Director of Finance and Business Operations. Catherine has an MBA in Finance and 25-years of experience working in nonprofit accounting and finance. She has a passion for bringing business skills to the nonprofit sector. Prior to her engagement as Director of Finance and Business Operations, she served as the Finance Manager at the Alliance for over four years and has operated her own independent consulting business since 2000.
Catherine graduated with an MBA from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and has an undergraduate degree from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA. Along the way, she has worked in corporate finance, international business and banking. She has served the nonprofit local community in some way as an employee, consultant, volunteer and board member all of her professional life.

Mark Pregler is the Director of Data Management and Analytics for the Washington Health Alliance. He has more than 30 years of experience in Information Technology with an emphasis in health care data warehousing and business intelligence environments. Having developed a passion for data early in his career as a software developer, He has spent the past 25 years focused on health care data and information. With this experience, Mark brings a strong foundation of business, technology, and analytics knowledge to the Alliance.
Prior to joining the Alliance, he served as Director of Knowledge Services at Premera Blue Cross where he was responsible for the Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence program. In this capacity, he set the strategic direction of the program and led efforts in the design, development and implementation of reporting and analytic solutions for a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. He also held similar roles at Pacific Health Systems in the Actuarial, Finance and Health Care Economics division.

Teresa Battels is the Strategic Project Coordinator for the Washington Health Alliance, providing management of multiple, important grant- and sponsor-funded projects that have significant visibility across many health care organizations including purchasers (employers and union trusts), health care providers, and health plans.
Among her responsibilities are developing and tracking collaborative project plans, documents, timelines, deliverables and outcomes; researching best practices/approaches and engaging senior directors; and working with all stakeholders and advisors to identify potential improvements and policy implications.
Teresa is very proud to come from a family of healthcare providers and she worked in various patient-facing jobs in health care for 25 years. Prior to joining the Alliance, she worked as a Patient Experience Advocate and Project Coordinator in Musculoskeletal Medicine at The Polyclinic. There she focused on multiple inter-disciplinary, collaborative projects aimed towards improving patients’ equitable access to and experiences within the healthcare system.

Adria Moskowitz is the Office Coordinator for the Washington Health Alliance. She has a public health background with a focus on Physical Activity and Nutrition, Tobacco Prevention and Control, Chronic Disease Prevention, Oral Healthcare and Asthma Control. Before joining the Alliance, she spent 14 years at the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department where she championed internal diversity and inclusion with a focus on cultural competency and health equity. She spent many of those years working on teams with community coalitions and under-represented populations. As part of her position as Office Coordinator for the Alliance, Adria is also the SalesForce Administrator.
Adria received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Cornell University and a Computer Learning Center diploma in both command-line and object-oriented Programming. She is also a professional juggler and can be found performing at community events and Renaissance Faires throughout Washington and Oregon.

Nicholas Rondinone is the Alliance’s Senior Marketing Communications Manager. He oversees all external communication efforts for the Alliance, keeping its membership and the community up to date on the latest news and reporting.
Prior to joining the Alliance, Nicholas was an Assistant Managing Editor at the Hearst Connecticut Media Group where he helped lead a team of reporters focused on a broad range of topics including the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before Hearst Connecticut Media Group, Nicholas was a reporter with the Hartford Courant in Connecticut for eight years. It was during this time that he first developed an interest in public health and health care, most notably through his reporting on the opioid epidemic.
Nicholas and his colleagues have received numerous local and regional journalism awards for their thorough reporting on notable news events.

Yuriy Stasyuk is a Senior Health Data Analyst at the Washington Health Alliance. He has a decade of diverse experiences in the healthcare industry, which include direct delivery of care, case management, and data analytics. He has always been excited by information technology, moral philosophy, and the biological sciences. The fortuitous intersection of this triad of passions is what ushered him into healthcare analytics.
Prior to joining the Alliance, Yuriy spent nearly seven years at Molina Healthcare of Washington in multiple data oriented roles. Most recently, he was a Senior Data Analyst responsible for the development of an automated HEDIS reporting portal. Prior to that, he engineered the infrastructure of multiple data marts to aggregate data from different sources. He also spearheaded the implementation of a modernized reporting environment, transitioning dozens of manual spreadsheets into fully automated tasks, alerts, and reports.
Yuriy graduated with a Bachelor’s in Communication from Thomas Edison State College and has a certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
His past experience also includes five years of serving the local community as a youth minister, where he was engaged in writing, public speaking, group leadership, and organizing community events.
