How did Washington Hospitals Score on Safety this Fall?
SEATTLE – The Leapfrog Group, led locally by the Washington Health Alliance, released its Fall 2025 Hospital Safety Grades on Thursday, assigning letter grades to more than 40 Washington hospitals based on their ability to protect patients from medical errors, accidents, injuries, and infections.
In our state, 47 hospitals were graded, and 10 earned an A, 11 earned a B, 22 earned a C, and four earned a D. Washington continues to have no failing hospitals.
With this latest round of scoring run by The Leapfrog Group, Washington has fallen to 31st nationally for percentage of hospitals scoring an “A” grade.
“Preventable medical errors remain a significant challenge in hospitals across the nation, and far too many people are harmed or killed every year as a result. We are proud of the 10 of hospitals in Washington that earned an A,” said Drew Oliveira, MD, MHA, the Washington Health Alliance’s medical director. “We will continue to work with our community, our members and our hospital leaders to make sure patients always come first.”
