Welcome from the new Executive Director, Drew Oliveira

Last month I became the new executive director of the Washington Health Alliance (WHA) after having supported the Alliance for years as a former Board member, physician participant, and health plan leader. It is an honor to serve with such a dedicated staff and Board of Directors on the crucial work of improving the health of all Washingtonians.

The Alliance remains the only independent organization that brings together over 185 purchasers, health plans, government, community organizations, and health systems, hospitals, medical groups and clinics to facilitate initiatives that promote health and improve quality and affordability in Washington.

Our value continues to derive from three areas:

  1. Reporting – As a national leader in public reporting that is reliable and reproducible, we can produce actionable insights and address clinical impacts, and financial opportunities, as well as identify healthcare inequities across our State.
  2. Driving change – We convene, connect and collaborate to influence better healthcare decision-making as the only independent, engaged multi-stakeholder healthcare collaborative in Washington.
  3. Creating value – Through data-driven insights into local area issues, we can improve both clinical and financial health within those communities throughout Washington.

We are grateful for your commitment and support of our collective mission. Looking toward the future, we will build on our efforts to better inform how the value equation of cost, quality, and appropriateness of health care align in all our communities.

While building on our existing reports from Community Checkup to Total Cost of Care, we intend to put special focus next year on health disparities, mental health, women’s health, and health care access for children. The Alliance will boldly engage all our stakeholders in meaningful and impactful conversations and promote market change within the health care system.

We look forward to your engagement in our work. There are many ways to get involved with the Alliance, from committees to Alliance-led webinars. Please do not hesitate to reach out.
