Alliance Welcomes New Consumer Education Committee Chair Van Chaudhari
We are pleased to welcome Vandna “Van” Chaudhari, FACHE, PMP, MHA, the Administrator of Value Based Care and previously Population Health Management at UW Medicine, to her role as Chair of the Washington Health Alliance’s Consumer Education Committee.
Van holds a Master’s in Health Care Administration and has been with UW Medicine for 10 years. For the last 7 years, she has provided structure for population health in UW Medicine’s Accountable Care Network and led the population health management team at UW Medicine. In her value based care role, Van serves as account leader for employer based ACO contracts and clinical operations lead on several payer-based contracts across Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid and Commercial portfolios, as part of the Chief Medical Officer’s team. Van has been instrumental in shifting UW Medicine to develop a focus on “wellness care” as well as “sickness care” in primary care based population health programs.
Her key accomplishments have been driving new revenue opportunities, maximizing risk performance improvement opportunities, achieving 4 and 5 STAR quality goals in care transformation and winning the 2019 Acclaim Award. Van has provided leadership in setting up network structures to implement Bree Collaborative guidelines, pilot shared decision making, and implement evidence based care pathways across service lines to reduce unnecessary variation and promote standardization. She has led initiatives to optimize safe and efficient patient throughput in high volume areas like the emergency department, cardiovascular procedure units, and busy operating rooms with lean principles.
Van has an undergraduate degree in Systems Engineering and 20 years of strategic and operational health care experience in consulting and academic health care systems. Van is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, a certified Project Management Professional, and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She holds a Faculty position at the University of Washington in the Department of Health Systems and Population Health.
