Astellas and Pharmacy Quality Alliance join the Alliance

This month, we’re excited to welcome two new members who will bring additional expertise and experience in pharmaceuticals to the Alliance: Astellas Pharma US and Pharmacy Quality Alliance. Both will help us continue to deliver on our mission building a strong alliance among patients, doctors, hospitals, purchasers, health plans and others to promote health and improve quality and affordability by reducing overuse, underuse and misuse of health care services.

Astellas Pharma US

Astellas is a pharmaceutical company dedicated to improving the health of people around the world through the provision of innovative and reliable pharmaceutical products. Located in Northbrook, Illinois, the company serves as the headquarters for the Americas and employs nearly 3,000 people. Launched in April 2005, Astellas was formed through the historical merger of Japan’s third and fifth largest pharmaceutical companies―Yamanouchi, founded in 1923, and Fujisawa, founded in 1894. Pharmacy Quality Alliance

The Pharmacy Quality Alliance is a consensus-based, multistakeholder membership organization committed to improving health care quality and patient safety with a focus on the appropriate use of medications. Their mission is to improve patients’ health through a collaborative process to develop and implement performance measures and recognize examples of exceptional pharmacy quality.
